Erkunden Sie die Gassen von Assomada, der schönsten Stadt der Insel, mit ihren quirligen Märkten. Oder entdecken Sie Cidade Velha, die ehemalige Hauptstadt Santiagos, deren historische Bauten ein wenig an eine Piratenfilmkulisse erinnern. Doch als mit dem Beginn der Dampfschifffahrt die ersten Siedler nach São Vicente zogen, begann das Goldene Zeitalter der kapverdischen Insel. Lange Zeit war die Hafenstadt Mindelo der größte Hafen im Atlantik. Wer hier heute zwischen den portugiesischen und britischen Kolonialbauten entlangschlendert, spürt noch immer den Geist dieser Ära. Doch Mindelo hat mehr zu bieten als Geschichte: Die Stadt ist ein lebendiger Schmelztiegel voller Überraschungen. Wassersportler schätzen besonders den Südwesten der Insel. Seine unberührten Buchten zählen zu den besten Surfrevieren der Welt und gelten noch immer als Geheimtipp. Belebter geht es an den zahlreichen Badestränden zu – hier heißt es einfach nur: Sonne tanken, zurücklehnen und entspannen!

Ihm sind die weißen, das Sonnenlicht reflektierenden Fassaden vieler Gebäude ebenso zu verdanken wie ihre kubischen Formen und verspielten Türmchen. Besonders schöne Beispiele seines Einflusses entdecken Sie im Ort Yaiza. Wenn Sie sich fragen, wie ein solches Genie privat gelebt hat, werfen Sie einen Blick in sein Haus. Darin befinden sich fünf umgestaltete Lavahöhlen, die der Künstler als Wohnräume nutzte.
Die Temperaturen liegen das ganze Jahr über ziemlich gleichmäßig zwischen 16 und 23 °C. Verantwortlich für die geringen Temperaturschwankungen sind die Passatwinde und der Kanarenstrom.
Santa Cruz De Tenerife
Höher als der Teide geht nichts
Schon aus weiter Entfernung ist die größte Sehenswürdigkeit von Teneriffa gut zu erkennen. Der Pico del Teide, ein gigantischer, meist schneebedeckter Vulkan, erhebt sich 3.718 Meter über den Meeresspiegel und ist Spaniens höchster Berg. Als Mittelpunkt des Nationalparks und UNESCO-Welterbes Cañadas del Teide steht er unter strengem Naturschutz. Einen herrlichen Blick über die fremdartig wirkende Landschaft haben Sie am Aussichtspunkt bei den Roques de García – diese bizarr geformten Felsen sollten Sie sich unbedingt aus der Nähe anschauen. Besonders auffällig und ein beliebtes Fotomotiv ist der 30 Meter hohe Roque Cinchado, dem die Einheimischen den Spitznamen „Dedo de Dios“ – „Finger Gottes“ – gegeben haben.
Auf Teneriffa herrschen ganzjährig frühlingshafte Temperaturen von durchschnittlich 20 bis 22 °C, an kühlen Tagen liegt die Temperatur selten unter 15 °C.
Lissabon
Die Poesie der Seefahrer-Metropole
Um bei den vielen Sehenswürdigkeiten in Portugals Hauptstadt nicht den Überblick zu verlieren, hilft ein wenig Struktur. Fangen Sie am besten unten an: Die Unterstadt Baixa hat nicht nur eine beeindruckende Altstadt, sondern ist auch ein frühes Beispiel für erdbebensicheres Bauen. Schon im 18. Jahrhundert ließ der Bauherr Soldaten um Architekturmodelle marschieren, um Erdbeben zu simulieren. Auf Ihrem Weg in den oberen Stadtteil Chiado wird Ihnen der enorme Höhenunterschied innerhalb Lissabons auffallen. Einfacher geht es mit dem Aufzug: Der Elevador de Santa Justa ist eines der Wahrzeichen der Stadt und verbindet die unterschiedlich hoch gelegenen Viertel. Seine Aussichtsplattform bietet einen herrlichen Ausblick.

Porto/Leixoes

Saúde! So prostet man sich in Portugal zu. Auf einen unvergesslichen Tag! Den werden Sie in Porto, der Heimat des Portweins, bestimmt erleben. Die Stadt am Ufer des Douro-Flusses ist unser Ausflugstipp für Sie. Die charmante Altstadt Ribeira ist ebenso sehenswert wie die Kathedrale mit ihrem prachtvoll vergoldeten Hauptaltar oder die barocke Clérigos-Kirche. Ihr Glockenturm, mit 76 Metern Portugals höchster Kirchturm, bietet Ihnen einen Traumblick über die Stadt. Die traditionellen Boote der Portweinkellereien, barcos rabelos genannt, die verträumt auf dem Douro dümpeln, sehen Sie von dort oben auch. Hunderte von Jahren transportierte man auf diesen Holzbooten die Portweinfässer aus den Anbaugebieten zu den Kellereien in Porto. Heute dient eine kleine Flotte restaurierter Exemplare als Ausflugsboote.

Grund: Vigo liegt in Galicien und diese frische, grüne Region der iberischen Halbinsel unterscheidet sich deutlich vom Rest des Landes. Das Klima ist milder, das Leben beschaulicher. Davon können Sie sich auch im malerischen Hafenstädtchen Bayona überzeugen. Ob die Sagen von Wunderheilungen wahr sind, die sich um Santiago de Compostela ranken, werden wir wohl nicht herausfinden. Fest steht: In der historischen Altstadt des Wallfahrtsortes erwarten Sie Juwele der Baukunst. In den engen Gassen reihen sich prächtige Paläste und Kirchen aneinander. An der Praza do Obradoiro lässt die majestätische Fassade der Kathedrale nicht nur Pilger ehrfürchtig aufblicken.
Das Klima in Galicien ist recht mild und ausgeglichen. Die Mittelwerte für Vigo liegen im April bei 12,5 °C, im August bei 19 °C und im November bei 12 °C.
Gijon
Asturiens Epochen- und Küstenwanderung
Am besten können Sie die Schönheit der Stadt, die am Golf von Biskaya liegt, von der Plaza del Marqués aus genießen. Der beliebte Platz liegt zentral in Gijón und bietet einen freien Blick auf den Hafen. Neben dem Meer prägt aber vor allem der Palast von Revillagigedo die Umgebung. Der barocke Prunkbau wurde im 18. Jahrhundert aus den Überresten eines mittelalterlichen Turms errichtet und sorgt für ein tolles Ambiente – genau richtig für eine Pause in einem der vielen Cafés.
Das Klima Gijóns ist vom Meer geprägt und lässt sich als gemäßigt bezeichnen. Die Jahresdurchschnittstemperatur beträgt 15 °C.
Dover/London
Entdecken Sie die Vielfalt Großbritanniens
Von Weitem können Sie bereits die malerischen Kreidefelsen entlang der Küste von Dover erahnen. Dies ist nur ein erster Auszug der Erlebnisvielfalt welche Ihnen offen steht. Unweit von Dover erleben Sie die britische Hauptstadt London mit ihrer eindrucksvollen Geschichte erleben. Jedoch bietet auch das reizvolle Umland vielerlei Highlights. Das mystische Stonehenge ist nur eine von vielen faszienierenden Impressionen die Sie erwarten.
Dank des Golfstromes herrscht an der Südküste Englands durchweg mildes Klima. So kann man auch im Dezember noch Temperaturen bis zu 9 ºC erwarten. Im Sommer erreichen die Werte im Mittel knapp die 20 ºC-Marke.

Heute dient eine kleine Flotte restaurierter Exemplare als Ausflugsboote.

Grund: Vigo liegt in Galicien und diese frische, grüne Region der iberischen Halbinsel unterscheidet sich deutlich vom Rest des Landes. Das Klima ist milder, das Leben beschaulicher. Fest steht: In der historischen Altstadt des Wallfahrtsortes erwarten Sie Juwele der Baukunst. In den engen Gassen reihen sich prächtige Paläste und Kirchen aneinander. An der Praza do Obradoiro lässt die majestätische Fassade der Kathedrale nicht nur Pilger ehrfürchtig aufblicken.
Am besten können Sie die Schönheit der Stadt, die am Golf von Biskaya liegt, von der Plaza del Marqués aus genießen. Der beliebte Platz liegt zentral in Gijón und bietet einen freien Blick auf den Hafen. Neben dem Meer prägt aber vor allem der Palast von Revillagigedo die Umgebung. Der barocke Prunkbau wurde im 18.
