Bei Ihrem Karibik-Urlaub mit AIDA ist so gut wie alles möglich, auch eine Reise durch Zeit und Raum – zu einer Mittelmeersiedlung des 16. Jahrhunderts. Schauen Sie sich im Künstlerdorf Altos de Chavón um! Das Amphitheater könnte von den Griechen oder Römern stammen. Es gleicht den antiken Vorbildern zum Verwechseln. Das Dorf inklusive Kirche wurde ebenfalls originalgetreu nachgebaut. Den Künstlern, die dort leben und arbeiten, dürfen Sie gern über die Schulter schauen. Dass die Anlage auf einem Felsplateau hoch über dem Chavón-Fluss erst vor gut 35 Jahren erbaut wurde, wird Ihre Begeisterung kaum schmälern. Sie würde eher Südstaaten-Romantik reizen? In der Dominikanische Republik ist das Klima tropisch ohne nennenswerte Temperaturunterschiede. Die Durchschnittstemperaturen liegen zwischen 23 und 28 °C. Von April bis November regnet es häufiger, sonst ist es niederschlagsarm.

Tausende von Jahren stand Arubas Wahrzeichen, die Natural Bridge, im wahrsten Wortsinn wie ein Fels in der Brandung. Im Jahr 2005 hielt der spektakuläre Felsenbogen nicht länger stand. Aber selbst die „Ruine“ bietet einen grandiosen Anblick. Und die Wellen haben bereits neue Brücken aus dem Kalkstein gewaschen, die an das Original erinnern. Auch die Bushiribana-Goldmine zählt zu den eindrucksvollen Erinnerungen der Insel. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurde das kostbare Edelmetall dort kiloweise gewonnen. Heute ist Arubas Gold grün: Aloe Vera findet in der Kosmetik reißenden Absatz. Das Gel, das in den Blättern gespeichert wird, ist ein Jungbrunnen für die Haut. Ähnliche Wirkung könnten auch ein paar Stunden am Strand, eine entspannte Schnorchelsafari oder eine Segeltour haben. Probieren Sie es aus!

Bonaire - das B der karibischen ABC-Inseln
Das B der niederländischen ABC-Inseln Aruba, Bonaire und Curaçao steht für unglaubliche Artenvielfalt über und unter Wasser. Die pinkfarbenen Flamingos – Wappenvogel der ursprünglichen Antilleninsel – bevölkern mit einer riesigen Kolonie den Salzwasserbinnensee Gotomeer. Papageien oder Kolibris, Pelikane, Reiher oder Tölpel – suchen Sie sich aus, nach welcher der rund 180 heimischen Vogelarten Sie Ausschau halten wollen. Noch bunter geht es allerdings am Saumriff rund um die Insel zu. Die märchenhaft schöne Korallenlandschaft, bevölkert von exotisch schillernden Fischen, ist ein Paradies für Taucher. Bestaunen Sie in der Inselhauptstadt Bridgetown den Trafalgar Square mit der Statue von Lord Nelson. Die ist übrigens nicht ihrem berühmten Gegenstück in London nachempfunden, sondern 36 Jahre älter. Sagen Sie beim Schwimmen den Meeresschildkröten Hallo, die man auf Barbados nicht in klarer Suppe, sondern frei im klaren Wasser genießt. Eine Suppenschüssel, in der es mächtig brodelt, werden Sie trotzdem sehen. Die „Soup Bowl“ von Bathsheba an der Atlantikküste ist der Hotspot für Wellenreiter.

Das karibische "Frankreich"
Der prachtvolle Vulkan Mont Pelé, an dessen Hängen sich tiefgrüne Tropenwälder erstrecken, üppig blühende Gärten, idyllische Strände – Martiniques Bewohner haben allen Grund, ihre Insel zu lieben. Worauf sie besonders stolz sind? Auf ihre Kaiserin. Gemeint ist Joséphine. Sie wurde 1763 auf der Zuckerrohrplantage La Pagerie geboren und gelangte als Gemahlin des französischen Kaisers Napoleon Bonaparte zu Weltruhm. Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts machte sich Victor Schoelcher einen beinahe ebenso großen Namen – als Kämpfer für die Sklavenbefreiung. Er hinterließ Martinique eine umfangreiche Bibliothek in einem exzentrisch verzierten Bau. Vom selben Architekten stammt auch die Kathedrale Saint-Louis, das Wahrzeichen der Inselhauptstadt Fort-de-France. Bei einem Stadtbummel können Sie die architektonischen Schätze bewundern.
Das tropische Klima sorgt für gleichbleibende Jahrestemperaturen von 27 bis 30 °C. Die meisten Niederschläge fallen von Juli bis November, im Süden ist es etwas trockener.

Tropische Traumwelt mit Vulkan
Einer karibischen Inselschönheit gleich liegt AIDA im Hafen von Castries. Der Hügel Morne Fortune bietet Ihnen freie Sicht auf diese großartige Kulisse. Sie wollen noch höher hinaus? Dann steigen Sie auf den 770 Meter hohen Gros Pitons, den „Kilimandscharo der Karibik“. Oder lassen Sie sich mit einer Seilbahn gemütlich durch die Wipfel des Regenwaldes tragen. Hochgefühle sind in jedem Fall garantiert.
Auf St. Lucia herrschen das ganze Jahr über sehr warme Temperaturen. Durschnittlich werden zwischen 28 und 32 °C gemessen. Für eine leichte Abkühlung des tropischen Klimas sorgen die beständig wehenden Passatwinde.

Unter den Trauminseln der Karibik ragt Dominica mit ihrer Gebirgslandschaft heraus. Entdecken Sie faszinierende Schätze wie die 60 Meter hohen Trafalgar-Wasserfälle oder den bezaubernden Emerald Pool. Die ganze Vielfalt der Natur präsentiert Ihnen der botanische Garten. Vielleicht bekommen Sie sogar den Sisserou-Papagei zu Gesicht, das Wappentier Dominicas. Ein prickelndes Abenteuer erwartet Sie beim Schnorcheln am Champagner-Riff, wo Milliarden feiner Gasbläschen aus heißen Schwefelquellen an die Oberfläche perlen.

Zuckerinsel mit Lavaherz
Das Zuckerrohr, das auf vielen Karibik-Inseln angebaut wird, interessiert Besucher meist nur in Form köstlicher Rum-Cocktails. Ganz anders auf St. Kitts: Dort können Sie auf den Gleisen der alten Zuckerrohrtransportbahn im Doppeldeckerzug auf Entdeckungstour gehen. Die historische St. Kitts Scenic Railway umrundet einen Großteil der Insel. Eindrucksvolle Vulkane, an deren Hängen sich tropischer Regenwald erstreckt, verträumte Karibik-Dörfer, idyllische Strandbuchten – alles zieht wie ein riesiges Panoramabild entspannt an Ihnen vorüber. Als wunderbaren Aussichtsposten können wir Ihnen auch die imposante Festung Brimstone Hill empfehlen. Sie liegt an der Westküste, eindrucksvoll rund 250 Meter über dem Meer. Ganz im Süden läuft die Insel schmal zu wie die Schwanzflosse eines Fisches. Hier warten St. Kitts’ schönste Strände auf Ihren Besuch.
Das Klima ist tropisch-maritim, es wird durch Passatwinde gemildert. Die Temperaturen bewegen sich ganzjährig zwischen 22 und 30 °C. Zwischen Januar und April fällt kein Regen.
Philipsburg
Geteilte Insel - doppelte Urlaubsfreude
Europas Entdeckernationen vermuteten in der Karibik kostbare Bodenschätze, allen voran Gold. St. Maarten war den Holländern aber aus einem anderen Grund wichtig: Sie brauchten das Salz aus den Salinen der Simpson Bay, um ihre Heringe zu konservieren. Den aus ihrer Sicht uninteressanten, aber weitaus größeren Teil der Insel, das heutige Saint Martin, überließen sie friedlich den Franzosen. Bei einem Ausflug heißen Sie beide Nationen herzlich willkommen – ob in der charmanten französischen Inselhauptstadt Marigot oder dem niederländischen Pendant Philipsburg, ob bei einer Fünfgipfelwanderung mit atemberaubenden Aussichten oder an einem der wunderschönen Strände. In der Dominikanische Republik ist das Klima tropisch ohne nennenswerte Temperaturunterschiede. Die Durchschnittstemperaturen liegen zwischen 23 und 28 °C. Von April bis November regnet es häufiger, sonst ist es niederschlagsarm.
Tausende von Jahren stand Arubas Wahrzeichen, die Natural Bridge, im wahrsten Wortsinn wie ein Fels in der Brandung. Im Jahr 2005 hielt der spektakuläre Felsenbogen nicht länger stand. Aber selbst die „Ruine“ bietet einen grandiosen Anblick. Und die Wellen haben bereits neue Brücken aus dem Kalkstein gewaschen, die an das Original erinnern. Auch die Bushiribana-Goldmine zählt zu den eindrucksvollen Erinnerungen der Insel. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurde das kostbare Edelmetall dort kiloweise gewonnen. Heute ist Arubas Gold grün: Aloe Vera findet in der Kosmetik reißenden Absatz. Das Gel, das in den Blättern gespeichert wird, ist ein Jungbrunnen für die Haut. Ähnliche Wirkung könnten auch ein paar Stunden am Strand, eine entspannte Schnorchelsafari oder eine Segeltour haben. Probieren Sie es aus!

Die pinkfarbenen Flamingos – Wappenvogel der ursprünglichen Antilleninsel – bevölkern mit einer riesigen Kolonie den Salzwasserbinnensee Gotomeer. Papageien oder Kolibris, Pelikane, Reiher oder Tölpel – suchen Sie sich aus, nach welcher der rund 180 heimischen Vogelarten Sie Ausschau halten wollen. Noch bunter geht es allerdings am Saumriff rund um die Insel zu. Die märchenhaft schöne Korallenlandschaft, bevölkert von exotisch schillernden Fischen, ist ein Paradies für Taucher. Der prachtvolle Vulkan Mont Pelé, an dessen Hängen sich tiefgrüne Tropenwälder erstrecken, üppig blühende Gärten, idyllische Strände – Martiniques Bewohner haben allen Grund, ihre Insel zu lieben. Worauf sie besonders stolz sind? Auf ihre Kaiserin. Gemeint ist Joséphine. Sie wurde 1763 auf der Zuckerrohrplantage La Pagerie geboren und gelangte als Gemahlin des französischen Kaisers Napoleon Bonaparte zu Weltruhm. Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts machte sich Victor Schoelcher einen beinahe ebenso großen Namen – als Kämpfer für die Sklavenbefreiung. Er hinterließ Martinique eine umfangreiche Bibliothek in einem exzentrisch verzierten Bau. Vom selben Architekten stammt auch die Kathedrale Saint-Louis, das Wahrzeichen der Inselhauptstadt Fort-de-France. Bei einem Stadtbummel können Sie die architektonischen Schätze bewundern.
Einer karibischen Inselschönheit gleich liegt AIDA im Hafen von Castries. Der Hügel Morne Fortune bietet Ihnen freie Sicht auf diese großartige Kulisse. Sie wollen noch höher hinaus? Dann steigen Sie auf den 770 Meter hohen Gros Pitons, den „Kilimandscharo der Karibik“. Oder lassen Sie sich mit einer Seilbahn gemütlich durch die Wipfel des Regenwaldes tragen. Unter den Trauminseln der Karibik ragt Dominica mit ihrer Gebirgslandschaft heraus. Entdecken Sie faszinierende Schätze wie die 60 Meter hohen Trafalgar-Wasserfälle oder den bezaubernden Emerald Pool. Die ganze Vielfalt der Natur präsentiert Ihnen der botanische Garten. Vielleicht bekommen Sie sogar den Sisserou-Papagei zu Gesicht, das Wappentier Dominicas. Ein prickelndes Abenteuer erwartet Sie beim Schnorcheln am Champagner-Riff, wo Milliarden feiner Gasbläschen aus heißen Schwefelquellen an die Oberfläche perlen.
Das Zuckerrohr, das auf vielen Karibik-Inseln angebaut wird, interessiert Besucher meist nur in Form köstlicher Rum-Cocktails. Ganz anders auf St. Kitts: Dort können Sie auf den Gleisen der alten Zuckerrohrtransportbahn im Doppeldeckerzug auf Entdeckungstour gehen. Die historische St. Kitts Scenic Railway umrundet einen Großteil der Insel. Eindrucksvolle Vulkane, an deren Hängen sich tropischer Regenwald erstreckt, verträumte Karibik-Dörfer, idyllische Strandbuchten – alles zieht wie ein riesiges Panoramabild entspannt an Ihnen vorüber. Als wunderbaren Aussichtsposten können wir Ihnen auch die imposante Festung Brimstone Hill empfehlen. Sie liegt an der Westküste, eindrucksvoll rund 250 Meter über dem Meer. Ganz im Süden läuft die Insel schmal zu wie die Schwanzflosse eines Fisches. Hier warten St. Kitts’ schönste Strände auf Ihren Besuch.
Europas Entdeckernationen vermuteten in der Karibik kostbare Bodenschätze, allen voran Gold. St. Maarten war den Holländern aber aus einem anderen Grund wichtig: Sie brauchten das Salz aus den Salinen der Simpson Bay, um ihre Heringe zu konservieren. Den aus ihrer Sicht uninteressanten, aber weitaus größeren Teil der Insel, das heutige Saint Martin, überließen sie friedlich den Franzosen.
