Vielleicht bekommen Sie sogar den Sisserou-Papagei zu Gesicht, das Wappentier Dominicas. Ein prickelndes Abenteuer erwartet Sie beim Schnorcheln am Champagner-Riff, wo Milliarden feiner Gasbläschen aus heißen Schwefelquellen an die Oberfläche perlen.
Auf Dominica gibt es ganzjährig Temperaturen zwischen 23 und 30 °C. Durch die gebirgige Inseloberfläche ist es sehr niederschlagsreich. Die Hauptregenzeit geht von Juli bis Dezember.

In einer geschützten Bucht an der Südküste Antiguas fanden die Engländer im 18. Jahrhundert einen idealen Ankerplatz für ihre Karibik-Flotte. Zur Verteidigung errichteten sie die mächtigen Hafenanlagen von English Harbour. Als deren Kommandant ging Admiral Horatio Nelson in die Geschichte ein. Das nach ihm benannte Admiral’s Inn in den restaurierten Werftgebäuden von Nelson’s Dockyard ist der Treffpunkt für einen Drink unter Seglern und Kreuzfahrern. Sie würden gern selbst Segel setzen? Bei einer Regatta in der Bucht von Falmouth gehören Sie zur Crew und können sogar einmal das Ruder übernehmen. Oder fahren Sie lieber unter Piratenflagge? Dann heuern Sie auf der „Black Swan“ an und beweisen Sie beim Plankenlaufen und Seilschwingen, dass Sie das Zeug zum größten Piraten der Karibik haben.
Das tropische, recht trockene Klima wird durch die ständig wehenden Seewinde angenehm beeinflusst. Die Temperaturen liegen ganzjährig zwischen 25 und 32 °C.

Die Insel in Herzform ist zum Verlieben. Zwar zeigt sich der Nationalpark Caldera de Taburiente vom ersten Moment an von seiner rauen Seite – doch die ist wunderschön. Kommen Sie mit uns auf eine Tour über versteinerte Lavaströme sowie durch zerklüftete Vulkankrater und lassen Sie sich zwischendurch immer wieder vom fantastischen Ausblick über die Insel und den unendlich weiten Atlantik begeistern. Eine ganz andere Art von Genuss finden Sie in der Tabak-Finca El Sitio: den von Premium-Zigarren und Wein.
Die Insel mit subtropischem Klima ist durch die Berge in der Mitte zweigeteilt. Im Norden und Osten der Insel gibt es fast ganzjährig Niederschläge und Nebel, im Süden und Westen ist es meist sonnig. Die Durchschnittstemperaturen liegen im Winter bei 21 °C.

Höher als der Teide geht nichts
Schon aus weiter Entfernung ist die größte Sehenswürdigkeit von Teneriffa gut zu erkennen. Der Pico del Teide, ein gigantischer, meist schneebedeckter Vulkan, erhebt sich 3.718 Meter über den Meeresspiegel und ist Spaniens höchster Berg. Als Mittelpunkt des Nationalparks und UNESCO-Welterbes Cañadas del Teide steht er unter strengem Naturschutz. Einen herrlichen Blick über die fremdartig wirkende Landschaft haben Sie am Aussichtspunkt bei den Roques de García – diese bizarr geformten Felsen sollten Sie sich unbedingt aus der Nähe anschauen. Besonders auffällig und ein beliebtes Fotomotiv ist der 30 Meter hohe Roque Cinchado, dem die Einheimischen den Spitznamen „Dedo de Dios“ – „Finger Gottes“ – gegeben haben.
Auf Teneriffa herrschen ganzjährig frühlingshafte Temperaturen von durchschnittlich 20 bis 22 °C, an kühlen Tagen liegt die Temperatur selten unter 15 °C.

Der Pico del Teide, ein gigantischer, meist schneebedeckter Vulkan, erhebt sich 3.718 Meter über den Meeresspiegel und ist Spaniens höchster Berg. Als Mittelpunkt des Nationalparks und UNESCO-Welterbes Cañadas del Teide steht er unter strengem Naturschutz. Einen herrlichen Blick über die fremdartig wirkende Landschaft haben Sie am Aussichtspunkt bei den Roques de García – diese bizarr geformten Felsen sollten Sie sich unbedingt aus der Nähe anschauen. Besonders auffällig und ein beliebtes Fotomotiv ist der 30 Meter hohe Roque Cinchado, dem die Einheimischen den Spitznamen „Dedo de Dios“ – „Finger Gottes“ – gegeben haben.
